Students of the Confucius Institute receive Chinese course certificates

A group of students from the Confucius Institute of the University of Seychelles (UniSey) received their Certificate of Achievement in a ceremony at the UniSey Lounge Anse Royale campus on Friday 26th September 2014.  The 10 students received their certificates for having successfully completed the three-month course in Chinese (Mandarin) – Level 1.

Present at the ceremony was the president of the Seychelles-China Association Charlie Ng, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Humanities Dr Sherley Marie, the Director of the Confucius Institute Professor Ma Min, the Chinese lectures from the Dalian University of China, UniSey staff and the Confucius Institute students.   

The Confucius Institute of UniSey was officially launched in June this year to promote the Chinese language and culture in Seychelles.  To commemorate the Confucius Institute Day from the 24th to the 26th of September UniSey held a series of activities comprising of photography competition, Chinese film show, demos of the Chinese classes and calligraphy classes.   

On behalf of his fellow students Mr Andy Jean-Louis expressed the gratitude of the students for the introduction of the Chinese language courses by the Confucius Institute of UniSey and the Dalian University of China. 

During the ceremony, the winners of the photography competition held under the theme ‘Seychelles Natural Beauty and Culture’ received their prizes.
