Senior Lecturer in Strategic Management
Head of Postgraduate Business Studies
Michael Hall joined UniSey in October 2015, having previously held academic and management posts in the UK. After a background in Leisure Management, he went on to obtain a Postgraduate Diploma and then a Master’s degree in Management, both from Manchester Metropolitan University. He has completed his doctoral thesis at Anglia Ruskin University, on the subject of the teacher as an agent of change.
Michael brings to UniSey a valuable combination of experience as a former practitioner, followed by different lecturing posts. He worked in the related fields of Public Administration and Leisure Management for some fifteen years, with responsibilities at different times for the management of points of sale centres, customer reception, marketing and merchandising, health and safety and human resource management.
He later made the transtition to an academic career, his most recent appointment being at City College Norwich, where he was Course Leader for the Foundation Degree in Business Management and Public Sector Management. In that position, he also delivered a number of cross-university staff development programmes, including time management, customer service and energizing lesson activities. Areas in which he can contribute extend across a wide range of topics: performance management, teamwork, organizational behavior, strategic management and marketing. He is also qualified to deliver courses in teacher training.
He is a dedicated teacher and his approach aligns closely to that of UniSey, in which students are encouraged to accept responsibility for their own learning. Michael has worked with a range of external organisations to provide short training programmes, including a certificate in teaching for the Royal Air Force.
