Director of Quality Assurance

Luciana Lagrenade joined UniSey in 2013, bringing with her a wealth of experience in the public and voluntary sectors.  She was appointed, initially, as the university’s Examinations Officer and quickly set to work to write the required policy and procedures to cover all aspects of UniSey’s assessment.  Having completed that and establishing an Exams Office, Luciana then accepted a move to the position of Quality Assurance Manager.

Luciana has an impressive range of academic qualifications.  She obtained a Diploma in Teaching and then a Bachelor of Education, both from Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia.  Later, she was awarded a Master’s degree in English Language Teaching from the University of Warwick, UK.  Of particular note is the work she subsequently undertook in  her own time, leading to a second Master’s degree, this time an LLM in Business Law awarded by De Montfort University, UK.  Additionally, Luciana has successfully completed two Certificate programmes, one in Measurement & Evaluation and the other in Leadership and Middle Management.

Her present post as Director of Quality Assurance draws on earlier experience in this field, including a period of four years as Quality Assurance Officer at the Ministry of Education.  She has also held senior positions as Director of the Consumer Affairs Department and of Communications and Corporate Services (where she was a founding member of the Fair Trading Commission).  Additionally, Luciana has extensive experience of teaching and education management.

Luciana is well-known for her contribution in various ways to aspects of Seychelles society.  She is, for instance, one of two Vice-Presidents of the Red Cross Society of Seychelles and also the Chairperson of that body’s Disaster Management Committee.  For fifteen years she has been actively involved in all aspects of the Red Cross Society’s work and has followed  a number of intensive training in disaster management locally and in the region ( La Reunion, Mauritius,  and Kenya).
