UniSey wins the prestigious President's Fair Play Cup
The 34th National Athletics Championship will remain both a historical and memorable one for the University of Seychelles. The event which took place on the 29th June 2010 saw the participation of UniSey for the first time in the “open” category. With only 13 participants the UniSey team managed to secure 3 silver medals in shot putt, long jump and 400m race by Sheena Boniface, Henrico Ernesta and Agnes Florentine respectively.
Although the team missed the winning cup for our category, it was indeed a joy and an honour to win the most prestigious President Fair Play cup in the open category.
Sincere thanks go to the participating team which comprised 8 girls and 6 boys. They were: (Audrey Ally Judith Cesar, Ligette Gerry, Agnes Florentine, Carol Radegonde, Sheena Boniface, Salvienne Isnard and Valery Anthony and boys Mervin Malbrook. Gilbert Lista, Joel Tambara, Alexander Lepathy and Yhoni Farabeau) and was under the management of Sabrina Jouneau assisted by Mr Royston Cedras who both deserve special mention for ensuring the determination of the team.
Special thanks go to Mr. Souffe ,The Head Of School, Ms Lymiah Bibi and Mrs Louisette Morel for their support and encouragement.
This year’s achievement has opened the door to UniSey’s future success in this event. The Students can look forward to the opportunity to contribute towards the 35th National Athletics Champion in 2011.
