UniSey School of Education hosts induction for trainee teachers

The group of 85 students enrolled into the UniSey  School of Education (SOE)  Foundation Programme  attended their induction session on Thursday the 11th March 2010 at The SOE auditorium.

The Vice- Chancellor Dr. Payet, The Dean,  the Head of School and faculty  members  made presentations on a variety of subjects such as Regulations and Policies, Code of Conduct, Academic calender and Course Modules.

The 2 year Foundation course which upon successful completion will lead to the B Ed degrees is important and necessary for the  school leavers who have completed S5 and enrolled for teacher training at the Foundation level. The programme is designed to equip the students with skills in Maths, English , Communication and Research  and prepare the students for the Degree level studies.

The Foundation  Programme is certified by Cambridge University while the B Ed  Degree will be offered with the support of Edith Cowan University of Australia.There is also a scheme in place for teachers who have completed their Diploma and Advanced Diploma which will be undertaken in collaboration with The Ministry of Education.

The UniSey School of Education offers 4 year  Degree courses in Early Childhood and Primary Education. Those aspiring to teach at Secondary level have options to follow three Year specialist subjects such as French, English, Geography or History and upon completion follow a one year Post Graduate Certificate  in Education ( PGCE).
