Unisey receives substantial support from C&W

On the 17th May which, marks  the world Telecommunications Day,  Mr Charles Hammond, CEO of Cable & Wireless signed an Agreement with the Unisey Vice Chancellor Dr. Rolph Payet  to provide  services and set up the relevant communications infrastructure to support  high-speed  internet access and land-line telephony. C&W will also link  the Anse Royale Campus and the town campus at Mont Fleuri- The School of Education .  Special  packages for students and staff of the university is also covered in the business proposal that was presented  to the Vice -Chancellor during the ceremony which was attended by the PS for Information Technology and Communications , Mr. Ben Choppy  and faculty and staff of both Unisey and C&W.

Mr Charles Hammond,  reiterated the C&W  CSR policy which has supported education and believes in progress through creation of a knowledge based society.  Dr. Payet, said that technology is the backbone of education and the university depends on facilities that will give both the Students and lecturers access to on- line libraries and other academic material.

The value of the sponsorship covered under this  agreement is to the tune of Sr 2 million. In addition, C&W has two on-going scholarships to the students of  UniSey as from 2009. Additional scholarships are also under consideration for 2010.
