The presentaion of the four Degree programmes - Accounting and Finance,Banking and Finance, Economics and Finance and Geography and Environment  was made to the prospective students at the UniSey school of Education Auditorium on Thursday the 18th February.

The session was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of UniSey Dr. Rolph Payet, the Deans of the two Faculties,CEO of Seychelles International Business Authority, Mr. Steve Fanny and represntataives from the financial sector.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Fanny said that many emerging and developing nations like Seychelles face challenges in banking, revenue , budgeting and the design of long-term financial strategy due to shortage of specialist personnel.

"The Government has responded specifically to the need of enhanced capacity in finance management, financial sector supervision and private sector finance through the setting up of UniSey.The University will play a pivotal role in building human resources capacity in a sustainable, economical and efficient manner".

The University of London provides opportunities for people studying abroad. "this university was the first to offer degree courses at a distance, and now over 47,000 students study externally' said Prof. Gosling, adding that  the students here will graduate with University of London degree. LSE will be capacity building, developing opportunities for students, and also providing lecturers with the necessary training to teach programmes that are internationally recognised.

The four courses are very demanding and students will need at least 2 A levels with minimum B grade to enrole. Students with lower grades are encouraged to follow a Foundation programme which will help prepare students to successfully complete the degree.

" We are encouraging students from the School of Business Studies to do their first degree in Accounting and then get an exemption when they follow their Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Programme "   Dr. Payet said.

Both Private sector and Government are willing to offer scholarships for this high in demand degree.Whilst UniSey will be recruiting lecturers locally for specialised courses in Finance and Accounts, for the final year  foreign lecturers will need to be brought in to teach the more specilised modules of the programme.
