Why the University of Seychelles?

The University of Seychelles is  growing fast; and although it is a relatively new university, dating from September 2009, it has already established an excellent  reputation.  Knowing how important it is to maintain this reputation, we seek quality in everything that we do.

We operate across three campuses, the main one being located in Mahé’s second largest settlement, Anse Royale. To date, we have  1,330 students enrolled with us.

Studying at a small university  has many advantages. The small class size and low teacher-student ratio encourage a more interactive learning environment; and each of the three campuses has a real sense of community, which means the university is a great place to make friends.

Being a young university also has its advantages. We are not held back by outworn traditions and we can respond quickly to new opportunities and encourage innovation amongst our students and staff. New areas of expertise have led to specially designed programmes which reflect the unique qualities of Seychelles (for example, our BSc in Environmental Science).  Now, opening our doors to international students will mean that views and ideas from other cultures will soon be integrated into our ethos, adding considerably to the dynamism of classes and to campus life as a whole.

At UniSey, you will be taught by well-qualified and highly accomplished academics from within Seychelles and from universities overseas.  You will benefit from their professional skills as lecturers and their extensive international experience,  as well as being stimulated by their latest research findings. Research is now an important aspect of the university and is evolving fast. Key areas of research currently being developed include: the Blue Economy, Indian Ocean languages and cultures,  environmental science, and education in small island states.

All our programmes are designed and delivered with employability in mind. We want to ensure that  our graduates are well-equipped for their professional lives, holding  a qualification that not only meets stringent international standards but also gives them a competitive edge in the employment market.
